Once you head into the library with the tab on the bottom left, you initially get five songs to listen to and sing along with. These songs are Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance,” “Just Dance,” “LoveGame,” “Paparazzi,” and “Poker Face.” To begin the karaoke part of the application, you simply tap a song in the list and allow it to load

The New York Times reported yesterday that entertainment super giant Disney is planning to reboot its entire chain of global retail stores as part of a major new strategy and vision inspired and guided by Apple CEO Steve Jobs. In the current economic climate, most retailers are looking for ways to cut down on spending and holding-back on investment and growth initiatives. But according to the New York Times’ Brooks Barnes, Disney is taking a leaf out of Apple’s book and using the economy’s downtime to reinvent its own retail stores. Disney is… getting more aggressive and putting into motion an expensive and ambitious floor-to-ceiling reboot of its 340 stores in the United States and Europe — as well as opening new ones. This mirrors Apple’s own aggressive efforts in the last 18 months to refurbish existing stores and open whole new outlets . It’s a strategy that’s paying off. In August, Bloomberg reported that Apple’s retail stores were performing consistently well, despite the economic downturn. iPods are great, and we’re rarely without one. But sometimes a pair of earbuds just isn’t enough–especially when you want some tunes for a backyard BBQ or basement dance party, or perhaps your favorite Lemonheads record just doesn’t sound right unless you crank it up. Either way, Ion Audio’s Tailgater can help you rock with friends, indoors or out. Weighing in at 20 pounds, the Tailgater is best described as “luggable” rather than portable. It’s about the size of a small guitar amp–12.5 by 9.5 by 14 inches–and, in fact, features XLR and 1/4-inch stereo inputs for hooking up a guitar or the included microphone. The internal battery will keep the party going for about 8 hours. Standard RCA inputs also let you connect any source, provided you have the right patch cable. There’s even a line out, so that you can connect multiple Tailgaters for even bigger sound. A full recharge takes about 12 hours via the included AC adapter, and there’s a handy LED power gauge on the top panel, so you can keep track of how much juice is left. A Commodore 64 emulator for iPhone is nothing new — we covered the fact that one had been developed a little while ago. Here’s what is new (and a little surprising, to be honest): Apple approved it . In an environment where Apple seems intent on rejecting anything that might encroach on their platform, even just a little bit, they have apparently allowed an emulator right there on the App Store. There are catches, of course — the emulator comes bundled with five officially licensed titles: Dragons Den, Le Mans, Jupiter Lander, Arctic Shipwreck and Jack Attack , and more will be available to purchase soon, so it’ll all be above board and legit (and the flip side is that if you want to play classic titles like Elite or Ultima , you’ll have to hope that whoever owns the rights to those will let them see release). The biggest catch is that the emulator doesn’t come with BASIC support enabled by default (although, via Daring Fireball and the iPhone Blog , it’s possible to get to it via a backdoor), so it’s more of a C64 arcade emulator rather than an actual software emulator . But of course this is a step in the right direction — someday we may finally see official SNES or NES emulators running in full glory on the iPhone and approved and available to purchase on the App Store.
