Section: Software + Apps , Third-Party , Video , Web , Web Applications , iPod + iTunes , Apple TV The folks at boxee have update their fantastic media application to support Netflix streaming on the Mac, among other things. The good news is that Netflix works just like you’d expect it to on the Mac. There is full support for Instant Queue, recommendations, browsing, searching and Netflix Watch Instantly. The bad news is that Netflix is only currently supported on the Mac. The Apple TV’s processor just couldn’t handle it. But that’s not to say that future updates won’t support it, because they’re still trying. But let’s not let Netflix claim the whole update. The newest alpha update to boxee also includes: Improved Hulu support Improved YouTube support Support for TheWB.com Support for MTV Music Support for the Boston Globe’s The Big Picture – it’s a photo-blog that boxee wanted to experiment with and may add similar services in the future if response is good. Rewritten plugins for CNN, Flickr, Picasa and Apple Movie Trailers Tons of bug fixes and other improvements Overall, this is a fantastic update, well worth the download. Perhaps in a future update the Apple TV will also support Netflix
